About Us

Lacko Fishing Co was established in 2020 after Matt had guided full time for five years. As a young guide, Matt was working for larger businesses and wanted to take a step back to slow down. Through some continuing partnerships in the fly fishing industry Matt was able to start his own outfit taking a small number of clients that he had worked with in the past. Through some careful consideration Matt has decided to take on a few more clients every year and share his passion of fly fishing with those who are willing. Matt was born and raised in Connecticut, fishing the Farmington River since he was 12 years old. Matt moved to Bozeman in 2014 to pursue his love for fishing and obtain a degree from MSU. During summer breaks, Matt would guide full time in the Bozeman, Missoula, and Yellowstone National Park areas. Now Matt has settled into Bozeman with his dog and fiancé fulltime. Matt loves to throw small dry flies at picky trout and bang the bank with streamers for hungry browns. Below is a fish taken on a smaller streamer just outside of Bozeman.
